Sakura Seafood Buffet - Salinas: Reviews & Ratings
We visited this all-you-can-eat spot on a Friday, and we were happy to find that there were seats available. The variety of food options was nice. The atmosphere felt relaxed, definitely more suited for family or friends rather than a fancy or formal setting.
Very quaint little place located in the shopping center area. The hostess were very nice. It was very warm in there due it was 70° that day outside. Luckily somebody finally turned on the air conditioner.
A little warm inside the building so an adjustment would be nice, and the food was pretty good overall. I did not care for the plain bao bun or the flavor profile of the kimchi. My favorite item was the baked scallops. Really yummy flavor. The seaweed salad is nice, just too spicy for myself! I love that they had edamame available. As a diabetic, I love seeing the vegetable options available.
Simple and cozy atmosphere... nothing fancy and food is pretty decent for the price, especially considering it is a buffet. Also considering you can cone and get some crab or seafood... if that your thing. Quite the assortment of food. I usually chow down on the sushi, again no complaints when you think of the price. Again, not uber fancy but I would absolutely go back again. Bring your extra stomachs... if you're going to bring a large party... make a reservation. Otherwise a reservation is not needed.
Have been visiting and enjoying this phenomenal cuisine buffet once per month over these last three years. Impressive diversity of foods, always super friendly staff. Can only recommend:-))
Sakura means flowering cherry tree, and this restaurant flourishes in a nutritious manner. My friend in the picture loves coming here to attain inner gastrointestinal peace. The mixed variety of flavors available entices even the strictest of appetites. His happiness knows no limits at Sakura.
IN SUMMARY: FOOD IS GREAT BUT PRICES ARE GETTING HIGH. I've ate here for years and I enjoy just about everything on the menu. It's always been kept clean as far as I've seen. The recent remolding boosts the efficiency and they've added a few items as well. The only issue I have, like everywhere else, is the pricing. It's gotten pretty high if you're going one the weekends or nights. Your best bet is to do lunch, if you're watching your spending. Other than that no complaints. Recommended; the cheese oysters and the creamy shrimp. I'm not sure what is in that sauce but it's a sweet white sauce on crispy shrimp. The oyster is cooked with veggies and topped with cheese, almost like a casserole in a shell. I don't know how to explain it properly but it's delicious. They also do habatchi and have a simple sushi bar. Nothing fancy just about 4-5 different rolls, freshly made an stocked. I've never seen them run out, even on the weekends they keep everything stocked and replenished quickly. The owners run a tight ship in my opinion. (I read the previous message and I've never gotten food poisoning or seen/heard of it in the near 18 years I've been going here. Also,This is just my experience.)
Sakura Buffet is an interesting, beautiful, and nice place that offers a lot of Asian foods including spring rolls, shrimp, noodles, and others. I visited in May/Spring 2024 CE in Salinas (Monterey County), CA. The parking lot was very easy to park in. I got the sodas for free such as Pepsi more than a pint.
